My new creative flame
My newest collection of BIC Lighters
If you’ve seen previous substack posts and random notes of mine, I feature the work I did creating 8 fantasy cartoon themed lighters that I illustrated and designed a for BIC. I’m so proud of these little flammable cartoon lighters!
I found recently just how much people connect and relate to lighters in general. Doesn’t matter who you are, if you’re a pack a day smoker or book worm that likes to read by candle light in the bathtub, everyone NEEDS a lighter for something…right? And when it’s a extra special lighter, maybe you’ll create a different kind of relationship to it, and maybe even to the idea of collecting artwork.
I remember when these little lighters came out and wondering how I was going to share them with the world. I soon realized how precious these little lighters are to me and to other people. I loved this idea that you can interact with art through an object that you use everyday. Whether it’s carrying it around in your bag, leaving your car cup holder or even putting it on the shelf like a prize collectible, I like this kind of interaction with my art.
This time around I’ve got a new set of lighters to reveal! 4 individual “Surf & Skate” themed lighter for this brand called DJEEP that is a branch of bic. These lighters are different because they are textured, fatter, and maybe even more visually playful.
As I spend two weeks in the US, I’m sending my first batch of lighters and personalized artwork to friends and anyone who wants a limited edition “ALB” lighter…After all, they are special collectors items. Want one? Let me know and I’ll send you one. These lighters won’t be around for long but but I want to spread the fiery wealth around.
They look amazing!
Hey Aaron, they look great. I’d love to have one! Maybe you could leave one for me at your mom’s and I’ll pick it up after we get home.
