Wrote this happy lil’ diddy in Los Angeles earlier this year while spending time at my dads house in Pasadena, California. I don’t know what it is about travelling, but ideas just seem to creep in through the window of my songwriter mind when I’m in transit. When they come, it’s such a gift that you need to stop everything and see how far the muse takes you or gives you. So with this one, it started with a simple two chord riff I found on the classical guitar. Then i started humming of the guitar slide lead, followed by singing the verse melody. It felt like the kind of song you just float down a river to, sitting on a little raft, letting the day pass you by, not a worry in the world.
This song has been sitting in my phone for six months now and if I didn’t say YES to releasing it here today, then how else could you have a nice summer song to float to?
“Yes” is one of my favorite words, and one that I’m reminding myself to say more these days. Stepping out of my comfort zones and opening myself up to the beautiful unknowns that come with resigning oneself to…YES. This song is an ode to that montra, to adventure, and to the happy little things in life that make us grateful and smile. Enjoy!
